From Baslow the walk starts from the historic humpback bridge with its attendant, unique tollbooth. Pass through a few fields with panoramic views (spot the 'ER' plantation over on the right), then take a long ridge walk through woods and open spaces with glorious views. Eventually the path goes through a beautiful part complete with views to Calver and many glorious rhododendrons (early June flowering). The path drops steeply down to Calver. Caution is required in wet weather.

Finally the walk ends with a serene, level walk at the side of the River Derwent back to Baslow. This is a walk that almost anyone can partake, the only difficult part being the steep path down to Calver. This can be extra difficult in wet weather, when there will be a small muddy stretch on the return path. Other than the steep section and this muddy part, the paths are excellent. It is worthwhile visiting the church afterwards to see the tower clock.

This is a wonderful walk especially along the ridge between waymarks 6 & 7. Be aware that this path is closed between Aug 15 and 19 2011 for tree felling. The notice says there is no alternative route.
