This walk starts from the Newbridge park-and-ride (grid ref ST 718658) on the outskirts of Bath; the Boathouse pub is close to the start. The walk follows the riverside to the Saltford Marina, where refreshments are available. Look out for the old Saltford Brassmill as you carry on to the next point (toilets are available here).

At the next pub (Bird in Hand) you will start your return along the disused Somerset & Dorset railway line. Keep a look out for the wildlife and sculptures as you go.

Claire, thank you for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the walk. a 4th pub 'The Jolly Sailor' is farther along the river by the sailing club, if you go under the road bridge by the car park of the Bird in Hand it's about 600 yards along, but you do have to retrace your steps back to the Bird in Hand to continue the walk John Morris

Did this walk on The last Bank Holiday in August 2013. The weather was perfect and people were out enjoying the last days of summer. We stopped at all 3 pub on the way round, just to make sure we could give a good full review of this walk! We took our 10 month old cocker spaniel, who had been with our family for 1 week, he was off the lead for most of the walk, all though we did put him back on for the last part along the cycle track, as it was like the Tour de France, and he was a little frightened. It is worth bearing in mind that it is a great place for your dog to have a swim, some places are a bit tricky for them getting out. We tracked our progress on Mapmywalk GPS app and it was actually 6 miles, possibly a little staggering going on after pub number 2! Highly recommend walk.
