Starting at Battlesbridge Station, this walk involves mainly field-paths and bridleways as you pass through Rettendon (famous for the Essex Boys Murders) and a garden centre, returning along a short section of the River Crouch before returning to Battlesbridge.

There are quite a few places to visit on this route, apart from the garden centre, Battlesbridge is known for its variety of antique stores. The main building has around eighty stores housed in a variety of old buildings and courtyards. The Barge Inn can be found next door. There is also Bones Lane Antique Centre with its lovely little tea room.
This walk was quite muddy en route when it was prepared in March, so boots are essential in the winter months. All in all it is a lovely family walk.
