With its coastal position Beinn Sgulaird has a reputation as a magnificent viewpoint. It is well deserved but the steep slopes and undulating ridge makes for a much more arduous walk than its position close to the road would suggest.
Although not the tallest Munro in the area the summit views off the Glencoe and Fort William mountains, and the Argyll seascape make this one of the more enjoyable to climb. Given the sea level start it's a major walk and one that for the views alone is worth undertaking in fair weather. The views out to Mull are stunning and it's well worth taking some time on the summit to soak them up
This remains however a committing and strenous day out. All standard high level hill walking safety procedures should be adhered too. Walkers should carry appropriate wet and cold weather clothing, and be able to navigate in low visibility conditions. In winter conditions ice axes and crampons must be carried
