At 931m Ben Chonzie is a lowly 250th in the list of Munros and is certainly not a spectacular mountain. However, this circular route from Loch Turret Dam makes a very pleasant and varied walk.
The route starts at the car park by the dam and follows an easy wide path almost to the head of the glen. Between the top of Loch Turret and the small Lochan Uaine are fine examples of glacial morraines. From the end of the track a steep scramble to the flat summit of Ben Chonzie provides superb views down the glen and north to Schiehallion and the Grampians.
The descent follows a ruined fence along a wide grassy ridge to Carn Chois (786m) before dropping down a steep grassy gully to meet a good path leading back to the dam.
