In Walk 6795 I tackled Benarty Ridge from the north from the excellent Vane Farm RSPB site (it was also 2-3 feet deep in snow at the time). This walk starts at the equally excellent Lochore Meadows Country Park.

The Country Park is the result of remediation work on the former collieries around Lochore, chiefly the Mary Pit, whose pithead winding headgear is at the start of the walk.

Benarty Ridge marks the border between Fife and Perth and Kinross; although not a major summit it does enjoy fantastic views over Scotland's largest lowland loch (Loch Leven) and the Ochil and Lowland Hills.

From an industrial past to hill views through lovely rolling country and fantastic woodland, this is a superb walk. If you just want to climb the ridge, an alternative start is available from the lay-by at Waymark 5 and then on descent, ignore the turn at Waymark 11 and keep along the road back to the lay-by.

Very enjoyable walk - couple of strenuous climbs but short. Was very busy at the park but once up on the hills hardly saw another sole - just the way I like it Spectacular views

At point 2, after going through gate, turn right along metalled road, not left. After a short distance, you will see the bench and a stile on the left.

Some on lead walking in the first field if livestock is present, near the dog free beach and near the pheasent hatchery , also some potential exposure to livestock on the ridge, but largely lead free and a great walk for dogs. No major stiles
