Starting from the fantastic RSPB reserve at Vane Farm, this walk follows an easily navigated path to the top of Vane Hill with fantastic views over Loch Leven and toward the Lomond Hills. From the summit the walk continues over less-defined paths to gain the Benarty Ridge and follows the ridge with its fantastic views over Perth and Kinross to the Iron Age fort which crowns its summit. The walk can be made circular by dropping off the ridge at its western end, or you can retrace your steps.

The reserve has hides and video cameras for observing the wetland birds on the loch and is an easy place to spend a couple of hours too.

Lead free walking once clear of the bird reserve. There may be livestock exposure later in the year but as there was considerable snow when I walked it there was none. Leads will be needed if you choose to return to the RSPB centre along the road
