Having parked near the famous Benirras Beach, we begin by walking back up the road 500 metres to reach the start. Now we begin a long, steady climb through pinewoods until we eventually reach the crest of the hill range Es Pujols. Now we can see the extent of the Benirras forest fire of 2010. However, the views, now unrestricted by pine trees, are amazing and it is encouraging to see signs of regeneration already. Next we have a strong descent of a wide track that will bring us to the coastline at Caló de s'illa. The following phase is a delightfully easy ramble along the shoreline until we near Cap Blanc.

The next bit is a little adventurous as we drop down into a gully, cross a terrace wall and begin a brief diagonal ascent of the other side to join a track that will bring us to Cala Es Canaret. We have two options to visit the cala before continuing to do a short, circular tour of the high peninsula Punta de Xarracó, offering us the most spectacular coastal views as far as Mallorca northwards on a clear day. From here we follow the dirt road south that will bring us to the peaceful country lane leading down to Cala Xarraca and Portinatx. We will head west before we begin a gentle ascent that will take us up to the foothills of Talaia San Joan through timelessly lovely Ibiza countryside with breathtaking views. All too soon we start another steep descent that will return us to the Benirras road. We take another diversion off the road and are soon back at the start.
