A pleasant walk up Larkton Hill, to the edge of and around Maiden Castle, with very fine views over the Cheshire Plain and across to the Welsh Hills. It is best undertaken on a fine, clear day to take advantage of the views.

A great short walk that I measure as 3.3 miles rather than the 4 miles quoted. If you are able to park on Goldford Lane at Waymark 3 (and there is plenty of space) it reduces the distance to 2.75 miles. This is the lane between Waymark 25 and the start. I completed this shorter walk in about an hour today and the views were great. Almost the entire walk is on National Trust land and there are a lot of well troden small variations that can be taken safely. A minor one that I would recommend to all would be to continue straight on at Waymark 24 through a delightful wooded path which emerges at the same lane 100 metres further on.
