This is a really easy walk that takes in a bit of open countryside, the River Dove and some splendid geological features, as well as a very fine pub. We can't get away from the fact it is about six miles, but as the pub is about halfway round, it's really only a three-mile walk with rest in the middle and the walk back is pretty well level, as it is the old railway track called the Tisssington Trail.

It is a particularly good walk if you happen to be staying at Rivendale Camping and Leisure site which is where we start. They have a cafe there and if you are driving you can park all day for £1. The height gain of 150m does sound an awful lot of puff needed, but in fact it is a short, steep descent on a well-worn footpath and a long, gentle walk back up through some lovely scenery. Best not try it in reverse.
