A walk through some typical English villages / hamlets and countryside and along the towpath of the River Nene (kingfishers and dragonflies in abundance). The Billing Aquadrome is used as our start point for those wishing to camp in this area.

The route takes us through some of the unspoilt countryside of Northamptonshire, along the Nene Way and towpaths of the River Nene. It gives us the opportunity to visit Castle Ashby gardens, designed by Lancelot Brown with an Italian influence.

The castle itself dates from the 11th Century and has had various 'royals' stop in it. The parklands around were designed by Capability Brown in 1760 and now form part of a 10,000-acre estate used as a county house hotel with various leisure facilities. There is a craft yard with numerous shops and tea rooms.
