This walk takes you up the Blackden Clough route onto the Kinder Scout plateau. The way up Blackden Clough is lovely and less frequented than the usual routes, although the upper part of the clough is to be respected, especially in icy weather. From the top of Fairbrook, the route follows Kinder's Northern Edge. At a large cairn marking the Pennine Way, you leave the Kinder plateau to drop down to the Snake Path at William Clough. You then follow the Snake Path for the next five kilometres in the company of the infant River Ashop, back to the lay-by at Birchin Clough. This is a really lovely long walk, especially on a sunny day, but please note it is quite strenuous!

Did this yesterday in excellent weather. Not for the faint hearted - some scrambling up Blackden Clough, uneven and, some paths indistinct. I would not do this in winter or following severe weather. Going can be very boggy and be prepared to get wet. All that said - a beautiful trail with stunning views and certainly away from the casual walking paths.
