Bisley is a large village which is a maze of steep and winding, narrow streets sitting high on the Cotswolds at the head of the Toadsmoor Valley. Many of the buildings are made from the local stone. The walk heads through a remote part of the Cotswolds, descending and climbing back up several steep valleys along the way. After passing through the small village of The Camp, the walk descends into the steepest and most picturesque of these valleys, below Famish Hill. It is completely surrounded by woodland, with a small stream flowing along the bottom and sheep and goats roaming freely, giving it a real sense of isolation. Inevitably there is a large height gain on this walk, spread over several steep climbs.
