This is the most eastern of the Black Mountain ridges and provides stunning views of the Hatterrall Ridge (part of Offa's Dyke) across the Olchon Valley. Once the ridge has been traversed the return journey is a relaxing stroll along the Olchon Valley floor.

Did this walk on 20/3/20 on a cold windy day. The walk is very pleasant. The Cat’s Back ridge is lovely with great views and the Olchon Valley is beautiful. There would be other ways of extending the route such as doing a bit on the Offa’s Dyke path before dropping back down to the Olchon Valley. Will leave that for another occasion!

Beautiful walk which we will definitely repeat. However one very important point to note is that the walk was only five and a half miles in length and took us two hours to complete!

Completed this walk 14/1/01. Fantastic day, sunny but very cold up on the ridge. Great views all round. Clear directions, spot on for time! Thanks - Karen Shepherd
