This short walk explores the dramatic and breathtaking coastline north of Boscastle. The route starts by passing the visitor information centre (which is a very interesting visit!) and follows a terrace path along the slopes to the north with lovely views over the rooftops to the harbour area and valley. The route continues by following a permissive path to avoid the road leading you round to the South West Coast Path where the character of the walk changes.
The views north are extensive along the coast and even include a lovely waterfall near Pentargon just a few hundred metres away. The route heads south west from here over gently undulating coastline to the base of Penally Hill which is only a short bit of ascent to reach its low 88m peak. The views are probably the best on the entire walk and take in miles of the outstanding Cornish coast north and south. After admiring the breathtaking views the route has a couple of options, firstly continue over the summit and down the path on the other side and down to the trackway close to the harbour which takes you back to Boscastle village centre. Once at the track, adventurous people will probably want to turn right and head over to explore the dramatic rocks of Penally Point as a public footpath exists right to its end.
