Bourton-on-the-Water is an extremely popular village, known as the Venice of the Cotswolds due to the many elegant bridges which span the River Windrush as it flows through the centre. There are many fine houses and quaint cottages, all of honey-coloured Cotswold limestone, which are set back from the river by a wide area of lawn.

From Bourton-on-the Water, the walk heads around several lakes, created by gravel extraction, which now are part of a nature reserve, then makes a modest climb up to the much smaller, but equally charming village of Little Rissington. The waterside theme to the walk then returns, as it descends to meet the Windrush and then follows it back into and right through the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water.

Walked 1/7/21. Nice short walk if staying in Bourton on the Water. No issues encountered.

Did this walk end of May - very enjoyable Slight problem with the start point. Be sure to look for Church sign. The footpath at The Firs is now alongside a new development of houses. Not a big problem to find. Overall a very good walk

A really nice walk. The directions are easy to follow and well signposted. The only slight negative is that some of the paths are quite overgrown with nettles and thorny plants so long trousers could be the answer. Enjoyed it on a beautiful sunny day so many thanks
