This great walk was originally devised and submitted to Walkingworld by Tom Heydon.

Thread your way through the Bowerhill Industrial Estate to the Kennet and Avon Canal and then walk the towpath, to pass swing-bridges and locks before reaching Semington Bridge. Leave the canal here and walk the little-used footpaths that run from Outmarsh to Whaddon Grove through the fields. To the right are the remains of the old dismantled Devizes to Staverton branch line. Cross the old railway to the River Avon and take a pleasant walk along its bank to pass the old Monkton House footbridge. Then it's on to the small but interesting Whaddon Church, over the hill and down to the Kennet and Avon again. Follow the towpath past several bridges, through Semington and the locks to Newton Farm, where you will then leave the canal to walk across fields back to Bowerhill.

15 01 12 We tackled this walk on a lovely fresh Sunday morning. We got as far as waymark 11 and had to abandon it. We were unable to get our dogs over the cattle grid. Picked it up again at waymark 23. Lovely walk by the canal. BEWARE if you have dogs you may not be able to complete this walk.
