Starting at Braintree station this circular route takes in some excellent paths through the Essex countryside. En route you follow a lengthy stretch quite close to the River Brain and a section through Notleys Golf Club, the rest consists of quiet country lanes, field paths, one residential road and a stretch along the long distance path (Flitch Way) back to the station. You do have to cross the busy A120 once, but there is a crossing place in the central reservation.
After finishing the walk on the return train journey, if you get off at Braintree Freeport station you can visit the shopping village with over 75 premium brands to browse.
All paths were clear with just a couple of muddy ones due to the walk being compiled in November.
