The opening and closing stretches of this walk are simply beautiful, so do not rush them! Take a look around and see what there is to see. The River Yare just before Whitlingham Country Park is a lovely area of Broadland countryside. The first stretch follows a lovely section of the Yare Valley towards Surlingham, with diverse wildlife all around and where traditional farming meets a protected wetland landscape. For an evening stroll of about an hour and a half, this is simply great and it even passes a pub, so if you want a drink or some lovely hot food then pop in! Rarely enough for Norfolk, the middle section of this walk actually gains some height (about 80ft) which does improve the views over the surrounding landscape greatly, with views extending several miles and also down to the river below. The last leg passes along some woodlands and follows a quiet country lane past The Woods End and back to the car.
