Bretherton has a number of interesting buildings which can be seen at the end of the walk. The earlier stages are very lonely with wide skies and open to the winds - I like this for a short walk on a winter's day, well wrapped up and looking forward to a cup of tea and cake, plus a browse among the antiques at the Corn Mill in the village afterwards.

Walked this recently and found it very easy but can understand how difficult it would be in the summer if the crops were high. We caught the Southport bus from Preston and alighted on the A59 at Bretherton Crossroads from where it was about a mile into the village. However at Waymark 15 a left rather than right turn takes you back to the A59 - you have done the last bit into the village first!! This means you need to visit the Corn Mill at the start of the walk and I must mention The Old Bakery in the village. We topped up our packed lunches and Mike pronounced their meat and potato pie the best he had ever eaten!

This walk is overgrown at the very start to be able to do the walk.
