The walk starts at Bretton Country Park in the beautiful Dearne Valley. There are waterfowl aplenty as we walk along the wooded banks of Bretton's tranquil lakes. All too soon we leave Bretton to climb out of the valley for extensive views over this region of the Pennines. After re-crossing the valley at Clayton West, we pick up the network of byways predominant in the area and climb towards Emley Moor, with its towering TV mast and the village of Emley. Here, you can refresh yourself at The White Horse before picking up the Kirklees Way and then the Dearne Way. These lead you to the excellent Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where you can wander at will admiring the incredible works of art.

January 2015. The walk is great. The car park cost is now £8.00 but entry to the Sculpture Park and all the Gallery's is free so leave yourselves a good couple of hours to explore and enjoy the YSP, you will not be disappointed.

Did this walk on 08/06/2013.We got to the Bretton Country car park at a 1/4 to 8 am and it was locked, didn`t open till 10 am in the summer. We went higher up to the YSP car park which also didn`t open till 10am but the gate was open so we parked on the car park. The cost was £7.50 for all day ( expensive to say the least!) but other than leaving the car on a busy road we paid. We joined the walk at waypoint 5.The walk was fine with easy to follow instructions. Thanks Jeff,Barbara, and Millie the dog.
