Brewood – Telfer's Aqueduct – Staffordshire Way - Belvide Reservoir - Brewood

The delightful village of Brewood boasts several listed buildings, though it was originally a Roman fort close to Watling Street, more prosaically known nowadays as the A5. This walk traverses fields to reach Telford's Aqueduct. It then joins the Shropshire Union Canal along a pleasant wooded stretch of the Staffordshire Way. It crosses more fields and pastureland, visits Belvide Reservoir and Bird Sanctuary and returns to Brewood along the canal.

My wife and I enjoyed this pleasant walk on 27/05/20. We feel, however, that it would be helpful to clarify the directions at point 5 by replacing the entry with 'Turn right along the line of trees and where the tree line inclines right go left to a stile.' Otherwise, we found the route quite easy to follow.

Really enjoyable, but!! the directions are not good after wp 16. Common sense should be applied but please do not aim left, carry on to Whitegates farm, you will avoid a horrible walk up the A5. It's all worth it though to see the view over the reservoir.

Did this walk 16/03/2010. Nice and easy pleasant walking. WP6 Lea Fields Farm is now a smart set of barn conversions 'Leafields Barns'(photo). WP12 I couldn't find any reference to 'Monks walk'.The field next to Whitegates farm contained two horses who were friendly when I had to go through!

Great walk, lots of varied scenery. Easy on the legs. Will do again.
