This walk is quite mixed, but the worst of the climbing is done in the first half of the walk. The views are quite extensive and the woodland is well-endowed with wildlife: plenty of birds, including crossbills; fungi grow well in the damp season, with the unusual 'cauliflower fungus' found regularly. Cleddon Bog is home to many rare bog species of plants, and Cleddon Shoots is a nature reserve.

We did this walk in Oct 2018, all pretty much as described. Few observations, at Way Point 7 the path wa quite overgrown and there was a fallen tree blocking the path, shortly after Way Point 31 the path splits we went left the correct way is right. Other than that it is easy to follow, many of the waymarkers have been replaced. Nice woodland and views over the valley. Also short detour into Brockweir at the end takes you to a lovely old pub.
