.This walk is on the very fringe of the Dartmoor National Park; in fact you will walk along the boundary wall. Buckland is a delightful moorland fringe village with an excellent pub and a church that is well worth visiting. The walk can be a bit muddy as it goes through Cuxton Farm, but this is compensated for by the lovely walk along the banks of the River Tavy. The walk starts and finishes at the car park opposite Long Ash Garden Centre, where there is a cafe. (However, being circular you could start at Waymark 5 outside Drake Manor Inn. You would then have a pleasant long downhill walk at the end to reach your car).

You will pass Berra Tor, the most westerly tor in the Park and probably the least visited. It is quite hidden behind trees now. Close by, bordering the Park but just outside on private land, there is the Iron Age hill-fort, although it may only have been a fortified settlement. The ditch around is the only bit in the Park but worth a look and perhaps an internet search before you set off.
