This route starts in the car park for Bullough Park, Accrington. It drops down to Priestley Clough, part of Woodnook Vale LNR (local nature reserve), passing alongside a small river (Woodnook Water). The river is crossed and there is a short section through woodland to reach an abandoned railway line. The railway line is now part of the National Cycle Network which is followed for just over two kilometres to reach the edge of Baxenden. After leaving the cycle path you walk through a farmyard and climb using footpaths to reach a small stream which is crossed before following a short section along a concessionary park around a farm.

There then follows a section along a rural road to reach a local moor (Accrington Moor). After crossing the moor, you pass a local golf course and through the hamlets of Green Haworth and Bedlam. After Bedlam there is a downward section to reach the edge of the local nature reserve. The last section follows paths through the nature reserve to reach the start point.

Most of the paths through Woodnook Vale are not shown on the map but are quite clear on the ground. Street names added for GPS users.

The general picture was taken in Priestley Clough between WM05 and WM06.
