Glorious Cotswold countryside and the charm of Cotswold dwellings combine on this wonderful walk from Burford to Fulbrook and Widford. Widley Copse and the River Windrush are added aspects, as is the medieval village of Widford, where stands the little 12th Century Church of St Oswald in its peaceful setting. Burford is a hive of activity all year round, popular with tourists; and a walk along its main street lined with beautiful buildings and individual quality shops will leave you in no doubt as to the reasons why. The splendid Church of St John the Baptist, with its tall spire, is huge and and awe-inspiring, attracting many visitors, a real gem of the Cotswolds.

We really enjoyed this one, it had a bit of all sorts; town, field, woodland, valley, riverside. Burford is a very pleasant town, and we found a very nice pub (Royal Oak) on the final stretch that was dog friendly and reasonably priced.

This is a lovely walk which my wife and I did for the second time earlier this week; the first was around 2 years ago. I noticed steps 3 and 4 have been added since then to incorporate a footpath behind the road to Fulbrook. We found it to be extremely overgrown (probably because of the weather we've had during the last few months), to the extent that we turned round and followed the Fulbrook road instead to Step 5. Thereafter, the walk was as lovely as we'd remembered, with the walk through Dean Bottom (Step 10) a real treat.
