Plenty of scope for children, lots of opportunities for beachcombing, exotic pebble-collecting, swimming and rock-scrambling, it can be done from either end of course and shops, food and drink are available in either village. The outward walk from Burghead is on a path following the track of a long-disused and removed railway line, a spur line linking the two villages. You can return by the same path, but the recorded walk returns for most of the way by a path alongside the shore. Very enjoyable, no special footwear is needed.

My wife & I completed this walk on 30 Sept 2017 and had a very enjoyable sunny day. However, we extended the walk by starting at the Harbour where there is ample parking. We went round the headland in order to visit the site of the largest Pictish settlement in Scotland c 400AD. The Caravan Park east of Hopeman is being greatly extended so there are now no steps at WP7 and on returning you have to walk to the right onto the beach for a stretch after Wp12 due to the large builders fence Gordon & Doreen Adie
