Burrator Reservoir is the main reservoir supplying the city of Plymouth and is easily accessible from that city. It is lovely walking country around the lake and surrounding moors and this walk offers you the opportunity to see some magnificent views of the reservoir, together with some splendid woodland walking and moorland views. The terrain is not difficult, although there is one longish climb running up from Meavy Village to Ringmore Down and a second, less arduous one later from Norsworthy Bridge to Yennadon Down.
If you want a moorland walk mixed with woodland, a little lane-walking and fields and tracks. then this is the Dartmoor walk for you.
This walk has another advantage; it is relatively easy to cut short should the elements turn against you. It is possible to return via the road around the reservoir without getting lost up on the higher moors. There are easy return points from Sheepstor Village and again from Norsworthy Bridge, with easy country lane-walking back to the start point.
As with any Dartmoor walk, a map of Dartmoor and a good compass are essential items;Dartmoor fog can appear very quickly and envelop the area.
