Richard Hardy's 5806 looked very tempting and I planned to walk it the next time I was in this part of the world. Time was against me, though, but I was determined to see the hill fort that he describes so graphically. It was an exhilarating experience even though it was brief and it is one that is easily enjoyed by all the family. Indeed, one member of our party got his electric buggy right into the fort. I can really recommend it and, naturally, Richard's other walks up here, for the sense of history and the views which reach even to the Peak District to the north.

Great short walk, the fort is amazing and this walk is a wonderful for people with limited mobility, young children or those with not much time. Next time you come back have a wider wander round this part of the world there are some great walks on here
