The walk starts at one of three car parks in a country park in Bury. The first section follows paths through the country park to reach a road. This road is followed to reach a cycle-way which is followed for a couple of kilometres. There then follows a stretch through some woodland and alongside a stream to reach the remains of a print works. From the print works the route follows country lanes and across two major roads to pass through a small hamlet and next to a river. The river is crossed and also a railway line before following a footpath which is part of the sculpture trail. The final section follows the course of the river before returning to the start point alongside a canal. The majority of the walk is in countryside.
This walk covers a variety of environments including the country park and a nature reserve. There are three sculptures in the country park. There is a cafe and toilets at the start and end of the walk. Some of the paths, especially between Waymarks 11 and 15 and around the start are not clear on the map but are quite clear on the ground. Street names are added for GPS users.
