This is a circular walk with a good variety of scenery and all of the footpaths are walked enough for you to be able to follow them. The exception will be the fields of crops if the farmer has recently been working the land.

Fortunately, at the places where landmarks are poor the old signage is still good, so you should not have much difficulty in keeping to the route. It's unlikely you will come across any farm animals, and there are no stiles on this walk. The route is quite flat and there are a lot of tracks to follow, with very little busy road. Although the canal section is in water it's derelict so there are no instructions for canal boat users.

The walk is probably most suitable teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled but boots will be best, especially in winter when you may find boggy bits; and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there's food at the co-op close to the start and finish and several bench seats along the canal bank. Also, there are toilets and drinks in the pub at the start and finish.
