Starting from Cadbury Castle, walk through a medieval landscape, with ancient trackways, settlements and terraces. From two ridges you get fabulous views of the hill fort at Cadbury Castle and of the Somerset Levels. On a good day Glastonbury Tor is clearly visible from the high point at Beacon Hill.

Before or after your walk, take time out to explore Cadbury Castle with its massive defences. It is supposedly the location of Arthur's Camelot. Whether or not it was the seat of this legendary king, it has certainly been a major regional centre from the Stone Age through to Saxon times. It is one of the biggest hill forts in Somerset.

We completed this walk on April 12th 2021,the first day we no longer had to stay local; the first day pubs reopened after four months and the first time you can stay away from home. This was quite close to our self catering place. It was a really lovely walk and you have to go up Cadbury Hill first before setting off on the walk itself. Well directed. Lovely views. Perfect.
