Begin this circular walk by strolling through the pretty Caldy village (photo on right), then along bridle paths up and across the National Trust heathland to the hilltop viewpoint to gaze over the village below, the Dee estuary, and the Welsh hills beyond. Then onward to the old Mariners Beacon followed by a walk down to the Wirral Way, and then along it to finish your walk along the Caldy's sandy beach.
The walk is suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and everyone in-between. Excellent for dogs but hopeless for wheelchairs or buggies. As you walk through Caldy near the end of the walk there are refreshments and toilets at several pubs. There are bench seats at intervals in several places on the walk. If it has recently been raining the paths may be muddy with numerous puddles and boots are recommended, otherwise stout trainers will be fine. This is an alternative route to walk 7637.
