Starting from the car park at Calton Lees the walk soon follows the bank of the River Derwent across rolling meadow towards Chatsworth House which is open to the public from Easter to Christmas. Upon reaching the river bridge leading to the house cross the road and take the path to the village of Edensor which up until the 1830’s was sited across the river from the house but was moved to improve the view for His Lordship. After passing through the village you take a path rising up a large landscaped meadow towards woodland with panoramic views all across the estate and surrounding countryside. Proceeding through the wood and a field a farm track is soon reached which leads back to the car park. Here refreshments can be had at the Garden Centre.
