The path starts from the main car park in the centre of Canillas. After passing through the village, the route then picks up the old Roman road as it descends to the Roman bridge (whoever said the Romans only built straight roads?), before heading up the Cajula Gorge, crossing and re-crossing the river. The walk returns over the top on an easy track, before dropping to the river again and climbing back to Canillas via the old mule track into the village.

We did this walk again recently. At point 9 we were amazed to find road has collapsed but it is possible to go down slippery slope but beware of sinking in mud at bottom. After last winter's heavy rainfall we shouldn't have been so surprised! Also we don't think it is an 'Easy Walk'. For us it was 'Moderate' and certainly took an hour or more longer than 2hrs 26mins!!!!!

At point 6 do not turn right at Park Natural sign as landowner has blocked this path (to avoid damage to his pipes) Keep left. this rejoins path at point where it forks right towards the river.
