A good walk for the experienced mountain-walker, passing lakes and a disused quarry with a foreboding lake and with a scramble to the summit, where you have views of the Snowdon Horseshoe, the Glyders and Carneddau. A favourite walkers' pub is not far from the start.

As Bob Askew has noted, this is a fantastic walk, but is by no means easy. I tackled it yesterday on a very clear, hot, sunny day. It was hard work, but well worth it. I think we may have scrambled up the wrong bit towards the end, as it got very steep and we had to sort of make our own way, but we got there in the end! Great fun. There are some tricky bits coming down though, especially if they're a bit wet. A couple of our group, myself included, fell over in the mud, but no harm done! :) Some of the scenery is very dramatic, and the views are magnificent. Though as I say, it's hard work unless you're super-fit.

This is a lovely walk in every way but I feel it is misleading to describe it as " a nice easy walk". The scramble to the top is prolonged and very steep in places and older or less fit walkers would find it taxing. Also a steep downward section of the return route is quite badly eroded and needs careful negotiation. That said, it is an outstanding walk and I highly reccommend it, just be prepared for a good leg stretch!

I printed out this walk, and managed to do it yesterday (Saturday 17/02/01) and although it started out misty it soon lifted to give way to a beautiful day, T-shirt weather in mid February would you believe! The pictures especially were helpful on the walk and we followed the route exactly as described in the text.
