Carr Mill Sankey Valley Circular

Walk starts on West side of Carr Mill dam close to pub so refreshments available and heads North to viaduct crossing the reservoir to East side of water. Briefly the route follows the lake south before entering a woodland section which leads back to South end of lake. Next section of walks follows route of historic Sankey Canal, first in UK, with chance to take in Sankey Valley Visitor Centre which explores history of canal. The walk then follows the route of the St Helens canal towards 'The Burgy' which is two substantial mounds of compacted waste from St Helens glass works which is now parkland. Finally the route leads back to Sankey Canal and back to the pub.
