This is a short and easy, mainly level stroll along a stretch of the river near Carronbridge. Turn off the main road alongside the Carron Burn and follow a grassy track down to reach the River Nith. On its opposite bank may be seen Drumlanrig Castle (see Walks 2229 and 3902) and the ruins of Tibbers Castle. Walk downstream with the Nith and you will find some bench-seats on its bank. Where the Carron joins the Nith the route turns left and crosses the burn via a metal footbridge. Passing through Morton Mill, the roadway rises and meets the A702 road. Here turn left and proceed through the village of Carronbridge, now along the A76, back to the car park.
