The route is along tracks, field edges and quiet country lanes, where in spring daffodils and primroses are found in the banks. The walk starts at the sandy beach car park, Cart Gap, so named because of the smuggling activities that went on here centuries ago.

This is a great alternative to a coastal walk at Cart Gap. The route heads inland towards Lessingham along quiet country lanes and tracks. Much of this route is off road so if you prefer cross country walks then you should enjoy this one. Smallsticks Cafe is on the route and a great place to stop for refreshments. Cart Gap beach is beautiful and just down the ramp from the car park if you wish to stop by.
