You start from the car park on the side of the D907 near to the buvette which overlooks the Gorge des Tines. From here you walk down to the River Giffre and climb the other side of the gorge through woodland, before reaching a viewpoint where you can see the rafters winding their way through the narrow gorge below. You then descend through trees before emerging in Alpine pastures, where you cross the River Giffre des Fonts and follow forest tracks and country lanes along the side of the river before reaching the impressive Cascade du Rouget. From the waterfall your route winds down a forest path before it joins the D29, which you follow back to Sixt. From Sixt you take a track along the river back to the car park.

October 2013. The return path (point 9) is officially closed (sign). We tried it (!) and found out why - there is no pipe bridge as outlined in the walk details. Considerable work has gone on making the 'stream' more of a river which was difficult to cross with no sign of a path on the opposite side.
