The walk, which is almost entirely on paved surfaces, starts in Caton and uses the old Skipton - Heysham railway line to reach the Lune Aqueduct, which is crossed to reach a minor road. A footpath has been created alongside the road, bringing you to the village of Halton where a Victorian cast-iron bridge crosses the river to reach the railway line again and the way back to the start. Storm Dennis (February 2020) had flooded the valley and all the riverside paths that we had planned to use, so we improvised this walk which we enjoyed more than we thought we would at the start. It will always be a good standby in bad weather. Wheelchairs could be used as far as Waymark 7.
