We begin in the high eastern part of Cazorla, from where we make a brutally steep ascent to reach the lane (later becoming a dirt road) which skirts the western edge of the Sierra de Cazorla. The views are breath-taking and we will have many opportunities to glimpse griffon vultures and maybe even an eagle! After more than six kilometres along this camino we have the option to add 3K to the hike by visiting the Castle of Cinco Esquinas before descending through pine forests to reach the fascinating old monastery of Montesion. From here we continue our descent beneath the so-called Castle of Five Corners, eventually to reach Cazorla's castle (known as Yedra). This has been restored and is an interesting museum of local life through the ages. The hike ends in the Plaza Santa Maria from where, with the aid of a town plan, you can rediscover your car!

I was delighted to have the opportunity to revisit this hike after 14 years! Little has changed but I have reduced the hike distance by some 4K. This is a wonderful hike and not to be missed if you are visiting the Natural Park.
