This walk can be started at several places and / or done in sections, but if you do the whole circuit it is quite long and involves a height gain of over 1,000m, which is why it has a mountain challenge classification. It is a super walk, with some of the most breathtaking views in the whole park. The route is mostly on high mountain trails and the section from Puerto de Gilillo across Lomo de los Castellones is particularly beautiful. The walk as described starts at the Cazorla Parador and climbs to el Puerto del Tejo. There is then a super long descent to the Ermita de la Virgen de la Cabeza overlooking Cazorla. After a short road section to the Riogazas hostal, you then climb back into the mountains to the pass just below the summit of Gilillo, then back across the high pastures of Castellones with their dramatic limestone scenery to rejoin the outward path back to the parador. If you break your journey in Cazorla, the taxi back to the parador will cost about 20 Euros.
