Charlesworth - Coombes Rocks - Ludworth Moor - Mellor Church - Roman Lakes - Marple
This is a linear walk from the village of Charlesworth back to Marple, following the Cown Edge Way. There are extensive views off Coombes Edge looking north-east over Hyde, Denton and Manchester in the distance.
The route across Ludworth Moor shows no trace of the mine that was worked here for coal and fireclay from about 1940 until its closure in July '81.
Continuing through Brook Bottom, you eventually pass Mellor Church (St. Thomas') with more fantastic views from here.
Passing Linnet Clough Scout Camp, you drop down to the Roman Lakes, from where you cross the Roman Bridge over the River Goyt to join the Peak Forest Canal for a short distance to Marple centre.
