This walk is in an area to the east of Cleeve Common. It includes a visit to the large, multi-chambered long barrow of Belas Knap which is a nice place for a picnic. Although Belas Knap can be quite busy in the tourist season, the rest of the walk passes through less visited areas. There are wide-ranging views over rolling hills, isolated farms and unimproved meadowland. So it's good for birds, butterflies and wildlife generally.
The first half of the walk is mostly level and on easy tracks. After Belas Knap, there is some gentle downhill walking, with superb views over Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle. Later, the walk goes through a remote area of unimproved grassland, climbing gradually uphill to reach the church at Charlton Abbots. From there, the short distance back to the parking spot is on small, quiet roads.
