This is a walk with a mixture of landscapes including quiet villages, cooling woodland and open fields and meadows.

The walk starts in the pretty village of Checkendon at the church before heading through the meadows of Checkendon Court and then Corker's Lane. More woodland walking follows through Heath End before the one and only climb up a hill into Chartersfield Wood. Later the walk reaches Neal's Lane with its meadows before heading into the delightful Busgrove Wood with its shading on a summer's day. Skirting south of Stoke Row, the walk passes through meadows before passing near to The Black Horse Inn in Waymark 11. The final stretch involves crossing a number of fields before returning to the start near to the parish church.

I found this a pleasingly quiet stroll - in lack of both noise and other humans - with enough scenic variety not to feel like you’re been wandering around a giant wood for a couple of hours. Much of the route, even through woodland, uses footpaths rather than bridleways so the ground conditions were generally fine and likely to be so year-round (with exceptions at WM2 & WM7). Good, clear directions.
