Excellent walk, done 06.03.24, so a few updates. I went up the side street with the now named Rasio Indian restaurant, Cabra bar, avoiding the steps. On turning left into Lynch lane, you have a fork of two footpaths, one straight ahead and the gorge walk on the left. I took the gorge walk on the left which takes you to the Tower and top of Jacobs ladder and pick up the walk from there. After point 4, rather than keep left at the fence, at the top, I went through the gate then the six foot metal kissing gate, turning left before a wooden gate to re-join walk once more downhill. It's quite wooded the left walk and very very stony so no striding across. The blue cottage going towards the Swan Inn, isn't there, or painted a different colour! Just go uphill on the tarmac road and along to the pub on the corner, you'll see the Post box first. Excellent instructions and walk - thank you.

Did this walk 21 April 2012 - very enjoyable. The car park now costs £5 and Jacob's Ladder now costs £5 per person (!). Also, the shop selling the tickets did not open until 10am.

This is one of my favourite walks that I have done now three times (a fourth tomorrow) and is excellent for training (did this for Great wall of China and Kilimanjaro). The scenery is varied from the small village of Cheddar, high up on the ridge, the higest point of the Mendips (where you see the Bristol channel) and then a lush forest. Be a little careful when you come off the ridge to not go ahead but off to the left. Other than that enjoy!

Walked 23/5/09. Started at the carpark NE of wp10 (free). Really enjoyed the walk - except the walk up the gorge (due to close proximity of the cars) If we were to do this walk again - which we probably will at some time - I'd plot to walk on the path seen running roughly parallel with the gorge and south of it. I think this runs along the cliffs. Overall a fine walk.

Fantastic walk with all you would expect on the mendips, parked in town a half hour walk away so we had a good warm up before climbing jacobs ladder which is a testing start to any walk !

We enjoyed this walk - views were lovely. Update: The car park now costs £4 per day and entry to Jacob's Ladder is also £4 per head. We found that the pub in Rowberrow was open and serving meals all day Sat and Sun.
