This short walk starts off just by Cheddar Reservoir and follows a quiet country lane to the east to join the old Strawberry Line. The Strawberry Line is part of a long-distance path linking villages and towns in the area, mostly following the railway line. After arriving at Axbridge the route heads south to join a path up to the reservoir. The views over the lake are lovely and there are also views to the surrounding Mendip Hills, as well as Cheddar Gorge itself.

Once on the edge of the reservoir the route follows a permissive path round the west side of the water, to complete about half a circuit and arrive back at the car park.

I walked a slightly different version of this walk on 26th March 2018. 4.4miles Starting at the car park next to the intake tower, through the graveyard and along Middle Moor Lane then Stubbington Drove Cheddar Yeo, along Ellenge Stream then back onto the reservoir path at ST 439 543. It is a very pleasant outing, not too muddy and with deer and lots of birds in the Western element of the walk.
