This linear walk starting at Chelmsford Station in Essex has lots of variety along the route. You will pass through a few beautiful parks, through the village of Writtle, along excellent field-paths and through the grounds of the stunning Imphy Hall. There is also a lovely stretch through a golf course. All country lanes were very quiet and all paths were clear. Through Writtle you pass a Co-op store and a chip shop and through Hylands Park, there is a cafe, so refreshments are to hand. There is also a toilet block by the cafe, which is very handy. Once the walk is completed and you arrive back to Chelmsford, you get the chance to explore the city centre with its vast array of shops.
The only downside to this walk is it's extremely muddy during the winter months, so appropriate footwear is essential. Apart from that, it is a highly enjoyable walk.
