There are woodlands, stream valleys, disused railway lines and canal towpaths to follow on this enjoyable loop through the countryside. The urban sprawl of Chesterfield isn't at all felt as the canal is well-wooded and mostly hidden in a narrow valley where it is close to the town centre. Signposting across the golf course and throughout is very good, so navigation shouldn't be an issue anywhere. There are no stiles and the canal towpath is designed for wheelchairs, so is straightforward.
There are cafes en route, too!
